Stickpony Stuff
Yup, Stickpony is back.  We had to take a couple of years off to recover from trying to live like Keith Richards without actually being him for an entire decade.

You've got a Stickpony that still plays loud as shit country rock, cowpunk, and rock 'n' fuckin' roll.  You can find out how to contact us below under "Contact".  The Facebook page has got the comprehensive band bio and a link to a photo gallery spanning the many incarnations of Stickpony from 1997 - 2007.  There're a couple of MP3s way down at he bottom of this page under "Musica".

Anyway, look over there to the right for a list of gigs coming up and we'll occasionally post any noteworthy news right here.  Gotta a bunch of new songs to work up and eventually get that fourth album, working title Love Songs from the Epidemic, underway, but we need to find some money first.  Feel free to help out in this regard.  You'll get a producer credit.

The 7th annual North vs South Festival was an alla round blast, and ol' Stickpony performed a fine set to a packed room.  For our time, there's not a better one to be had than NvsS.  But hold the phone - we've got the Austin Corn Lovers Fiesta - hosted by the unstoppable Hickoids - coming up Oct. 8th - 10th, in direct competiton to the other ACL fest happening that same weekend.  We know which one will host the bands we want to see.  Our slot is Sunday, Oct. 10th afternoon/evening at The Scoot Inn - time TBA.  We'll have the multi-talented Evan Kaspar sitting in on the pedal steel, helping us make even more noise, so you don't wanna miss this one.

Also, don't miss us, the loud guitar pop of The Daylight Titans, and the anarchic punk of The Creationists blow the window off the front of The Hole in the Wall Wed. Sept. 1st.  Music starts at 9:30 on that one.  Maybe an early show with our buddies The Perilous Tide Sept. 17th or 18th at The ND - we're still working on that'n.  Keep checking back - we'll keep you posted.

Some Stickpony NvsS photos to come on the photo page soon.  Of course, we all know what "soon" means around here.

Don't miss out this Saturday night!  Me, old Brit Stickpony, celebrates my 40th birthday with an old school throwdown at the legendary Carousel Lounge.  Details over there to the right.  Whatever happens, it oughta be one for the books.  See ya there.

6/26/2010

Stickpony will be playing the 7th annual North vs. South Music Festival at The Hole in Wall on Saturday, August 14th at 8:45 - 9:15PM on The Lar Lar Stage (outside stage in the beer garden).  We're between the brilliant Alberto Alfonso's new project Sissy Spaceship (Lawrence, KS 8 - 8:30PM) and the "Berdella" line-up of Cher UK (widely agreed, deservedly I think, to be the best) (Austin, TX/Kansas City, MO) from 9:30 -10PM.  You can find full schedule information for all three days, all three stages at http://www.myspace.com/northvssouthmusicfestival.  Six great festivals so far.  This could be the best one yet (Black Flag reference deliberate).

Looks like the 3 Degrees Festival has been called off.  Even if that's just a pernicious rumor, Stickpony's going to have to pull out.  Make sure and catch us at the North vs. South Festival, though.  Looks to be our only gig this summer, and it's gonna be a hot one.  No pun intended.

6/8/2010

We're laying low in June, practicing up and working on new songs for a Lonesome Dave-less summer.  Lonesome's lovely wife is due to deliver them a little bundle of joy in late July, so he's taking the hot months off.  Look for the Stickpony Power Trio (a lot more hard pop and punk, a lot less cow) in mid-July (hopefully) at The Carousel Lounge, and at both The North vs. South Festival and The 3 Degrees Festival in August.  Considering we just played in May, by our standards we're getting downright busy.  How'd that happen?

2/24/10

Our SA buddies Snowbyrd are having a little release party for their fantastic new record "Diosdado" and have invited us to play a set with them. The Rice Moorehead Band will be along for the fun as well. There'll be a couple of kegs. I can't think of a better way to kick off a Saturday night.

Also, it occurs to me that Stickpony never released Headfirst Through the Sound back in 2007, so we're gonna go ahead and make this a release party for that record as well, 3 years overdue.

1/20/2010

Well, Stickpony's fabulous February has been sunk down the shitter like a bad case of the runs.  We wen't from a double shot with The Hickoids to what is now a record shop in-store even though we don't have a new record out.  Snowbyrd (who does have a new record out, and a damn fine one) plays at 7.  We're at 8.  Trailer Space Record Shop, 1401 A Cherrywood next door to East Side Pies.  Good news - free beer.  I'll probably drink a considerable amount before we play and, since I've mostly given up drinking, the following debacle should be pathetically entertaining if nothing else.  See you there or not.

There's no news like bad news, and Stickpony has never been a stranger to it.  Due to a booking snafu our show with the mighty Hickoids at The Independent Feb. 19th has been cancelled.  Just the way of this biz, kids.  All is not lost, though.  Negotiations are taking place for another weekend in February possibly with The 'Roids but, if not, a couple of really rockin' bands.  While we wait for this lil' clusterfuck to untangle itself we'll be looking toward April, so if you know anybody looking back let us know.

10/21/2009

Well, the official reunion was a slam bang success.  Thanks to The Independent, Mike Henry, The Bitter Spills, and Eve and the Exiles for helping us making a rafter rattler.  Also thanks to all our friends, both local and from afar, and those invaluable fans we don't know personally for showing up and making us feel important.  Looks like things are off to a swinging new start.

We got ourselves our own Facebook group to go along with our fan page.  Head on over to http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=185661383055 and sign yourself up.

We'll get some gigs going on here soon and start doing demos for the new record.  Hopefully good old Ron Flynt will be sitting in the producer AND engineer chair for that.  Guess we should ask him.

We'll have a "Pics" page up soon for those who couldn't make the shows, and maybe some more surprises down the line, so keep checking back.  Adios for now...
